The Squalane Cleanser will be available on March 6th
This cleanser will be The Ordinary’s first cleanser that gently cleans and removes makeup, dirt and impurities from your face. Once place on the face, the formula will go from a balm into an oil like consistency. Imagine putting butter on your face! The product is soap free and includes squalane, as stated by the name.
Squalane is the saturated portion of squalene. It’s a great moisturising ingredient that helps recharge fatty acids and antioxidants. What is great about the use of squalane is that it’s less likely to break down compared to squalene due to their saturated portion. Our human bodies actually produce squalene as a part of our own skin moisture. But once we hit our 20s, the amount made and able to be retained in our skin declines.
Squalene works pretty well with with hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid helps with drawing in and absorbing moisture and the squalene allows for you to seal in the moisture and decrease the amount leaving.
Squalane as an oil is 100 percent saturated oil, this makes it more stable than coconut oil. Because it’s a saturated oil, it only has single bonds within their fatty acid chains. As such, it makes it stable and resistant to being attacked by free radicals.
With this, squalane becomes a perfect ingredient for cleaning your skin as it cleans and exfoliates!
